Thursday Thought: The Art of Observation

Note: Each Thursday I will post a little something to inspire us to finish the week strong. These Thursday Thoughts will vary … a quote, poem, or inspirational video.  Congratulations, you made it over the hump and let’s finish the week together.

Not sure why I fell asleep and when I lost my grip on my camera. How I loved to shoot and observe the world … the still images and the moments in-between.  Fully awake now and camera back in hand. I am ready to observe again, those still images and the moments in-between.

Word of the day … OBSERVATION, an intentional act of noticing or perceiving. Maybe it comes from my early education in ethnography, but observation has always served me in my business career. No need for a camera in my hand, yet somehow my camera adds light to my path.

“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” – Elliott Erwitt

“We cannot create observers by saying ‘observe’, but by giving them the power and the means for this observation and these means are procured through education of the senses.” – Maria Montessori
