Grandeur in This View of Life

I wrote recently on my search for my next great read. Life is better when in the middle of an absorbing book. Years ago my mother bought me a copy of The Autobiography of Charles Darwin. I am in the mood for a biography; ready to learn from the life of someone with such influence on our world.

Here are a several thought-provoking quotes from Charles Darwin. A promise for myself and to you my reader, another post or so after I complete the book.

“There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one, and that whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity from so simple a beginning, endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.”

“A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life.”

“It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.”

“Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, and not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science.”
