My City of Ruins

My heart goes out to the people affected by the Super Storm known as Sandy.   The devastation is shocking and profound.   I live thousands of miles away from New Jersey, New York and the overall area hit by the storm.  I do not want to forget and thus I write this post.

I listened to my Bruce Springsteen playlist on my iPhone today.  So much of his music speaks to the situation in the New Jersey / New York area.  Yet three songs hit the mark directly, each speak to the situation and the hope for healing:   Jersey Girl, My City of Ruins, and The Rising.

Here is Bruce singing My City of Ruins.  I profoundly wish we can stop playing this song after such events, but of course we will.  By the force of nature or our own hands, we will need to listen anew.

God Bless and continue to watch out for each other, family and neighbors alike.
